Cleveland food stories
Episode Two- All Is Not Equal
Why is it that residents in the suburban community of Lyndhurst have a life expectancy 10 years greater than those who reside in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood? While individual choices certainly matter, the status of your health is largely influenced by the zip code in which you live. This film explores the social determinants of health in Cleveland, with particular emphasis on how unequal access to the foods needed for a healthy diet contribute to alarming disparities in health between neighborhoods. From health care professionals to empowered youth, this film profiles the inspiring stories of everyday people who are helping to turn these disparities around.
